Don't Waste the Waiting

Psalm 27:14
14 Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord.

It is easy to see waiting on the Lord as passive and weak when our world tells us that the key to success is to be aggressive and demanding. But did you notice the two English words used in our verse today to describe the person who waits and trusts in the Lord?

Courage and strength.

Waiting on the Lord is a faith building exercise. Strength is attained one day at a time and courage is the motivator that drives to get back up when life knocks us down. Waiting should not always be viewed as a negative, but a positive. We need to be aware of when God is telling us to wait and when He is telling us to strike. There are times in life when God needs to prepare us for the victory. Like a sports team that practices to get ready for a big game, God will use our “waiting” to prepare us for battle ahead.

Football teams play one game every seven days. They spend six days in full preparation mode. Those six days include rest, healing, strengthening, planning for the next opponent, implementation of the game plan, and finally, game day! Every day has a purpose.

You may find yourself in a season of waiting right now. You have prayed for God to do a mighty work in your life but there has not been any movement. You are simply wondering when God will do something and you’re frustrated. But let me ask you something. Are you wasting your waiting?

There is much to gain in the waiting. Wisdom to attain. Courage to build. Strength for the future! Are you missing out because you’d rather skip the lesson?

God will give the go ahead, and when He does, you will be fully prepared to accomplish His purposes for the mission!

The time is coming. The wait is almost over.

Are you ready? Are you prepared? Are you taking full advantage of your time in the waiting?

Heavenly Father, I have prayed for a long time but have not received any answers. Build my strength and give me courage in the waiting. Prepare me for the time when you will pour out your blessings. I want to be ready. In Jesus Name, Amen
